Larry Young and Kevin Skorupa will dress up for July 4th, but not with foam Statue of Liberty crowns. The pair will be decked out in 17th-century period costumes for their Poor Richard’s Penny Concert. The duo performs tavern songs, dance tunes, instrumentals, and colonial ballads -- are you familiar with "A Toast to Washington" or "The tailor and the Tea Chest"? -- June Wulff, Globe Staff

July 4th- Not Just The British!

Let us not forget that COLONEL PAUL JOSEPH REVERE was killed at the battle of Gettysburg while in command of the 20th Mass! July 4th saw Lee leave Gettysburg in a crushing defeat- as well as 30,000 Confederates captured at Vickburg.
