Smith & Wollensky Steakhouse

101 Arlington St. The Castle at Columbus Ave., Boston, MA, 02116
(617) 423-1112 - Venue Website

Smith & Wollensky is located in a spectacular historic landmark, where Chef Tindaro Losurdo creates outstanding steakhouse fare, featuring USDA Prime steaks, dry-aged and butchered on premise. This treasured landmark is known to most as simply "The Castle", and the space has been restored meticulously to recapture the integrity and beauty of the original millwork, masonry, and wrought iron ornamental work. Although Smith & Wollensky has earned its reputation as the quintessential American steakhouse, the menu is varied and offers many options beyond the signature exemplary steaks. Guests can also select from a variety of market-fresh seafood, poultry, and lamb. Delicious side dishes complete the Smith & Wollensky meal, such as creamed spinach, hashed browns, and seasonal vegetables. The dessert selection ends the meal on a memorable note with a variety of homemade cakes, sorbets, and ice cream. The Great American Wine List offers over 550 selections from all across the country.

Best filet ever!

We went last week because because of the promotion for appetite stimulus. The filet of beef was really the best I have had in recent memory. The fries though a tad expensive were flawless, as was the chocolate layer cake. Really top notch.

Incredible Dining

I love Smith & Wollensky. Unlike Ruth's Chris, the steaks are not sizzling in butter and you can actually taste the flavors of the steaks. When ordering the lobsters, waitstaff will crack off the shells for you and you have to do little work.
The wine list is amazing and we have always had great service.

Save your money!!

Dined here on 3/14/08 as part of Restaurant Week, and was VERY disappointed. The service was awful--it took at least five minutes after we had been seated before we were even given a menu, and then another 10 minutes before someone returned to take our drink order. The 10 oz. filet mignon was an option on the Restaurant Week menu (although it came w/ no sides, so you still had to order those a la carte), which was a great deal, but not considering how it tasted. Both my boyfriend and I ordered our steaks medium. His came medium, and mine came blood raw. Trying to send it back was another hassle since our waiter never came over to check how our meal was (even though we were in a small room that only had 4 tables filled and 2 waiters for those 4 tables). The desserts were amateur and didn't make up for the lack of service or the problems with the filet. I will never return to this Smith & Wollensky!
